Highbury School is an outstanding generic specialist school for pupils aged 4-11, including learners who have additional needs such ASD, medical issues, sensory impairments and challenging behaviour. Judged ‘outstanding’ at our last inspection in July 2024, we are all committed to ensuring that our practice continues to move forward.
Our classes are organised according to pupil need and ability. We are looking to appoint a teacher to teach in one of our needs-based classes, within our Early Years Unit.
The successful applicant will be hard working, resilient, highly motivated and enthusiastic.
We offer all teachers who are new to the school a comprehensive induction package that supports them to develop their practice specific to the children they will be teaching. For all teachers who are new to the specialist sector, they will be supported by members of the Senior Leadership Team and the Early Years Lead.
The successful candidate will:
- Be a teacher who has a commitment to lifelong learning to continue to develop their own knowledge and skills.
- Work well with a dedicated staff team to transform the lives of some of the most vulnerable children with moderate and multiple complex learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders and physical disabilities.
- Communicate and engage effectively with children, staff, families, outside agencies, governors and the wider community.
- Be committed to leading improvements in teaching and learning.
- Have a deep understanding of early child development.
