Outdoor Provision

There are a wide range of outdoor spaces at Highbury, each of which has been designed to offer children a different learning and play experience. In addition to the usual playground spaces, we also have a range of equipment available for the children to access.

There is a slide area to the front of school which is loved by the children. The slides are set within the hill side, and this gives children the added physical challenge of getting back up to the top from the bottom. One slide is open, and the other is enclosed and this provides a different sensory and physical experience.

The MUGA is a multi-use games area where we have the bike track. Learning to co-ordinate actions and balance are key skills that are taught on the MUGA on the range of multi-user bikes. The children can progress from a bike where they sit on the front and are pedalled by an adult, to riding a strike or scooter to being independent on a two-wheel bike.

The Roktagon is a domed climbing structure where children can be encouraged to climb safely. Many of the children who attend Highbury love to climb and get lots of feedback from climbing. The Roktagon is a great space to direct children to who enjoy climbing.
